Our Work
Four programs, one aim: bringing Christians to veganism through Scripture.
Why this work exists
Roughly two-thirds of Americans identify as Christian, and most vegan advocacy never reaches them. The usual arguments — ethics, climate, health — land differently in a church than they do on a campus, and secular messengers are rarely trusted to carry them. It is an enormous audience that most of the movement is structurally unable to talk to.
Vegan World Mission exists to close that gap. We are Christians ourselves, working from inside the tradition and from the text, making the case that veganism is not a modern political project laid over Scripture but something Scripture has pointed toward from Genesis to Revelation. We are insiders talking to our own people, which is the only way this conversation ever goes well.
Our programs
Program 1

Swords to Plowshares — Vegan Christian Discipleship School
Led by Craig Wescoe
A training school that equips Christians to bring other Christians to veganism. Participants work through the biblical case passage by passage, then learn how to hold the conversation in real life — in churches, at the door, on the street, and in public debate. The aim is not only to convince people, but to multiply people who can convince others.
- Who it reaches: Christians who are already persuaded and want to be equipped to persuade others.
- Where & how often: Southern California and Las Vegas in person; online for everyone else. Ongoing.
Program 2

Wholly Fitted 4 Life — Vegan Cooking Classes
Led by Jill Ellington
Hands-on vegan cooking classes that answer the question that stops most people the moment they are convinced: “but what would I actually eat?” Conviction without a practical path collapses within a month. These classes are where a change of mind becomes a change of habit.
- Who it reaches: Christians who have been persuaded in principle and need the practical skills to follow through, plus newcomers who arrive through food rather than argument.
- Where & how often: Southern California, in person, on a recurring schedule via Meetup.
Program 3

Vegan Heretic — Video Teaching & Apologetics
Led by Steven Lee August
Video teaching that takes on the hardest objections directly — the flood, the law, the fish, Peter’s vision — and answers them from the text rather than around it. This is the arm of the work that scales past the reach of any room, and it is usually where skeptics meet us first.
- Who it reaches: Christians anywhere with objections they have never heard answered, and skeptics who came to argue.
- Where & how often: Online, published on an ongoing basis.
Program 4

Creation Care Church — Sermons & Bible Studies
Led by Tracy Ford and Craig Wescoe
Preaching and weekly Bible study inside a local congregation, making the case for veganism from the pulpit and around the table. This is the work at its most patient: not a one-off talk to strangers, but the same people returning week after week, in the setting where Christians actually change their minds.
- Who it reaches: Practising Christians in an ordinary congregational setting, including those who would never attend a vegan event.
- Where & how often: Creation Care Church, weekly and ongoing.
How the four fit together
The programs are deliberately sequential, and each one covers a failure point the others cannot. Video teaching reaches people at scale and answers the objection keeping them stuck. Congregational preaching does the slow work inside a church, with the same people week after week. The discipleship school takes those who are convinced and trains them to carry the argument to others. The cooking classes make the change survivable in daily life, so a conversion lasts longer than a month. Reach, depth, multiplication, and retention — in that order.
Between us we have published three books, run an established discipleship school, a recurring cooking class series, a weekly congregational ministry, and an ongoing video channel — alongside public talks, debates, and street outreach across Southern California and Las Vegas.
